/etc/fstab

#1 Post by hugtux »

I'm trying to figure out what the "collomns" in the fstab mean, can somebody give me a hand?

/dev/hda3 / ext3 defaults 1 1

I know this ( I hope):
/dev/hda3 --> the partition (or device)
/ --> mount point
ext3 --> the used file system for this partition or device
defaults -->
1 -->
1 -->

Can somebody fill in the blancs?

'man 5 fstab' should give you a detailed info about the file structure.

Chapter 5 usually keeps info about config files, so if you encounter a similar problem, you probably find the answer there.
