change cli font color

#1 Post by Jeff_S »

I know this is kinda gay, but how do I change my cli's font color? When I was tooling around with my gentoo live cd, all the cli text is in various colors. I know there's an ls switch that show's it to you, but it'd be nice if it were always on.

thx

No, it makes the cli much easier to use.

Edit your ~.bashrc file (/home/jeff/.bashrc)
to add these lines:

Code: Select all

     # enable color support of ls and also add handy aliases

        eval `dircolors -b`
        alias ls='ls --color=auto'
To do this system-wide, then root needs to edit the /etc/bash.bashrc file.
