fonts in debian and xfs

#1 Post by bujecas »

I'm using x font server in debian sarge, but the fonts that I installed are not available in gnome or kde. I'm running xfs on unix/:7100 and when I execute xlsfonts, the fonts that I installed appear, but in the kde control center or gnome they do not appear.

Any suggestions?

The path to the fonts needs to be in your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file.

I have this in my xorg.conf

Section "Files"
FontPath "unix/:7100" # local font server
# if the local font server has problems, we can fall back on these
FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc"
# FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/cyrillic"
# FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/:unscaled"
# FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/:unscaled"
# FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/Type1"
# FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/CID"
# FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi"
# FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi"
# paths to defoma fonts
# FontPath "/var/lib/defoma/x-ttcidfont-conf.d/dirs/TrueType"
# FontPath "/var/lib/defoma/x-ttcidfont-conf.d/dirs/CID"
EndSection

I've commented the other paths, to use only the xfs. The gnome or kde shouldn't use the xfs?
