Any reason why uinput is not loaded per default?

#1 Post by Vantskruv »

Or has this been updated in newer versions of Debian? If there is a deliberate purpose not to have uinput loaded at system bootup, I want to ask the question why? Also, trying to catch two flies once, is uinput loaded as default in any main distros you know of?

The reason I'm asking these questions is that I'm developing a virtual joystick interface, where the user can take input from several physical devices and output the information to one or more virtual joysticks (or the keyboard as well) via a custom easy interpretable lua-code. The software is working well at this time, though in my case I'm required to load the uinput module manually. I've been thinking about asking the user to load the module, but I'm not sure if this is recommended.

The third fly I want to catch while smashing the other ones to death, what is the best procedure to load uinput module automatically at system bootup? Or is it not recommendable?

Edit: Oh, maybe I should have posted in the 'System Configuration' forum instead. :?
