Cross-platform free to play that is compatible with debian

#1 Post by topazkitty »

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knew any cross platform free to play games that are compatible with debian I want to play with my sister and friends but they use windows.

None of us like first person shooters.

Hopefully not something too pay to win.

Thank you so much for the help.

Either natively or in wine will work.

UFO: Alien Invasion is pretty cool.

It's a bit like XCOM - a top down squad based strategy game. I've never played it multiplayer, but it works as I understand it.

They're working on getting it packaged in Debian, but it's pretty easy to build.

Hedgewars is one that I know of for sure, but there's got to be many more. Maybe warzone2100. Maybe if you gave an example of what kinds of games you'd like...

I just know Hedgewars because of backporting it.

We were all thinking maybe

RPG
Dungeon Crawler
Fighting Games
Games like Frozen Bubble (we tried this but I couldn't get it to compile in strawberry perl for windows)
Platformers
Games like Streets of Rage.
Co-Op Games

Basically something we can play together at the same time.

I've never played worms or hedgewars before.

0 AD is still being developed, it's already pretty cool. For games in Wine, you can check reports from other users at the wine app database, or install playonlinux and use that to set up the game in Wine.

You can get an easy-to-install Frozen Bubble for Windows here; I tested it in Wine, and it ran just fine.

That frozen bubble port is from 2003, I tried compiling the version frozen bubble 2.2.1 on my friends computers, I got it to work on my sister's but it won't work on my friend's pcs for some reason.

Dota 2 if you like MOBA. If you don't, check Steam. There are many games that are compatible with Linux.

We ended up going with sonic robo blast 2 which is a doom conversion with sonic characters. Thanks for suggestions everybody. We run this game under wine.
