I did a search and I suspect it might be due to Frakendebian.

Please read:

and
How to ask a question the smart way
You have not given any information or details, How can any body answer this ?
What version of Debian, (if it is Debian ?) What kind of laptop ?,
I can not answer this :
And how to get log that i'll see on start of the machine ?
With out knowing what version of Debian,
If it is Wheezy , use bootlogd ,
https://wiki.debian.org/bootlogd
If it is Jessie: use

Code: Select all

 systemctl

I did a search and I suspect it might be due to Frakendebian.
The OP did not even bother to post any output, of anything, we would need to see
what the "sources.list" file has in it, to know that, but with out any kind of details from the OP, nobody can guess what the problem is.

This could be so many things.
In my case it was a bug in the bios and it was solved by updating it.
But it could be hardware failure.

First things first. Do a proper backup of anything important.

Then, is this something new? Has the ssd behaved properly on Debian before, without freezes? Or haven't you tried it with Debian before? Because ssd freezes are quite common, many freezes if left in idle state. But we need to know more.

Output of dmesg and lsmod always helps. I know the sources.list is infamous on this forum but how would seeing that help with a problem on the SSD?

Also are you sure the SSD is actually functioning? They are not 'immune' to failure just slightly less likely to fail than a HDD.
