Installing Firefox ESR on an older install of Debian
Installing Firefox ESR on an older install of Debian
I installed Debian late June 2015. It was Debian 8.1 then, and is Debian 8.5 now. When I went to update the packages, I noticed that Iceweasel was kept back. Doing some research, I came across this thread. It basically says that Debian uses Firefox ESR now instead of Iceweasel. My question is, how did I remove Iceweasel and install Firefox ESR instead? Should I even bother?

Should be installed automatically when you upgrade.
Laptop: Debian GNU/Linux 9 'Stretch' 64bit

Dist-upgrade instead of upgrade.
Or remove iceweasel and install firefox-esr.
Either works.

I did a dist-upgrade and it worked. Thanks.
