SOLVED amule-daemon missing in jessie

Postby dbip » 2017-03-11 18:50

Hi there,

I used to run amule-daemon in the past. Today I tried to install it again and couldn't find it in the repositories anymore. Is there any alternative I could run to have such a daemon to connect to e2k?

Thanks.

BR,

d.

If you had done some searches first, I think you would find the answer to this,
amule-daemon in Debian 8 repositories

In this thread here on the forum:

Don't want to derail your thread, but maybe an alternative is the best solution. There might be a reason Debian removed it?
http://alternativeto.net/software/amule/?platform=linux

The thread/ topic is kind of old, but the link is still valid.
Personally I don't recommend using any packages/downloads outside of the Debian repositories, for this reason:
There might be a reason Debian removed it?
, but if it is unavailable, and you simply must have it,..
https://wiki.debian.org/DontBreakDebian
I would at least do some more research, and try to find out why it was
removed from the repos.
But also there is a lot more results in the search I did for you, there may very well be some other options,
https://wiki.debian.org/aMule
I see it is available, for both Debian Wheezy, and Debian Stretch,
but not Debian Jessie,...

In the thread here on the forum, they go into how to deal with this.
just read the different results,in the meantime, and also I am sure some others will have more details to add
to this.

Answering my own question, as none of the others helped much, I eventually installed mldonkey, which is available in the repositories and it's an alternative to amule-daemon.

Thanks to those who answered.

Your welcome,
It looks like it will be available again, when Debian Stretch is released
if you upgrade to the current stable version of Debian, you will be using
"Stretch",...
if you want to stay with Jessie and not upgrade, or
In the meantime:
installed mldonkey, which is available in the repositories and it's an alternative to amule-daemon.

That seems like a good alternative.
