Debian Handbook mistake?

Postby debiantu » 2017-04-04 07:59

Hello all,

Am reading through the Debian Administrator's guide for Jessie.

The following page seems to have incorrrect info:
https://debian-handbook.info/browse/sta ... bases.html

It talks about the commmand "passwd -g groupname" to change the password for a group.

There's no -g option in the passwd command. From googling and reading the man page, I found it's actually "gpasswd" by itself to put in a passwd for a group name.

Am I correct in this? How does one submit for correction?

thanks!

Debian Users Forum - for questions specific to the Debian official distribution (stable, testing, or unstable); if you are using a derivative of Debian (e.g. Mint, Ubuntu, Kali, etc), then please use that distribution’s forum.
