Re: Problem with apt-get.
It looks like you have a whole barrel-load of problems.
(I personally would be losing patience now. I would copy off my Home to an external Hard Drive, do a new install and copy my Home back on.)
It is difficult to know whether there is one trigger which will solve all your problems or if the system is just broken beyond repair.
As a last suggestion I would use this box with Synaptic
Carefully! Try Complete Removal of each package listed one-by-one. If you are just going to remove a few dependencies then go for it. If you are going to remove a lot of dependencies, if it is Critical, then don't. Having done Complete Removal, install them back.
Try your update/upgrade etc.again
One of the messages is You can get rid of this with the command (AS ROOT) . This should come from the non-free Repository. You haven't shown us your sources list, maybe that would be interesting...

Code: Select all
# LANG=C dpkg -C
The following packages have been unpacked but not yet configured.
They must be configured using dpkg --configure or the configure
menu option in dselect for them to work:
bsd-mailx simple mail user agent
exim4-daemon-light lightweight Exim MTA (v4) daemon
libc-dev-bin GNU C Library: Development binaries
libc6-dbg:amd64 GNU C Library: detached debugging symbols
libc6-dev:amd64 GNU C Library: Development Libraries and Header Files
libc6-i386 GNU C Library: 32-bit shared libraries for AMD64
libtirpc1:amd64 transport-independent RPC library
linux-libc-dev:amd64 Linux support headers for userspace development
rpcbind converts RPC program numbers into universal addresses
The following packages are only half configured, probably due to problems
configuring them the first time. The configuration should be retried using
dpkg --configure <package> or the configure menu option in dselect:
exim4-base support files for all Exim MTA (v4) packages
smartmontools control and monitor storage systems using S.M.A.R.T.
udev /dev/ and hotplug management daemon
The following packages have an unknown foreign architecture, which will
cause dependency issues on front-ends. This can be fixed by registering
the foreign architecture with dpkg --add-architecture:
dcpj132wcupswrapper Brother CUPS Inkjet Printer Definitions
dcpj132wlpr Brother lpr Inkjet Printer Definitions
Try your update/upgrade etc.again

Re: Problem with apt-get.
Actually, I can't uninstall packages. I got the same problem.Carefully! Try Complete Removal of each package listed one-by-one. If you are just going to remove a few dependencies then go for it. If you are going to remove a lot of dependencies, if it is Critical, then don't. Having done Complete Removal, install them back.
I can't neither. xDYou can get rid of this with the command (AS ROOT)
The sources.list is pretty normal :

Re: Problem with apt-get.
Those last few lines say that there's some missing firmware. Have you tried installing non-free firmware packages from the non-free repos? I know you aren't able to install stuff but still I'd like to know if you tried.Coline wrote:Code: Select all

@arochester is right here. If I had this problem, I'd back-up home and do a clean install of Jessie and that's what you should do too.
These lines right here suggest that the "insserv" program has rejected the script header because your scripts "cupsys", "lpd" and "lprng" have broken headers. These scripts are usually in /etc/init.d . Have you installed any third party scripts before this problem occurred? The best guy to ask this question would be the owner of the machine (Why would you or they'd do that is another question). In the meantime, you might want to look for these scripts and fix them (or remove them). Take a look at this AskUbuntu question for a similar (albeit much less convoluted) problem: https://askubuntu.com/questions/650968/ ... -traitemenColine wrote:Hello.

If you aren't sure about how to go about this then can you please paste the output of ls /etc/init.d here?
The package description for insserv says:
Code: Select all
The insserv program is used by the standard SysV-based init system. It
updates the order of symlinks in /etc/rc?.d/ based on dependencies
specified by LSB headers in the init.d scripts themselves.
.
These declared relations between scripts make it possible to optimize
the boot sequence for the currently installed set of packages, while
detecting and rejecting dependency loops.
.
Using insserv incorrectly can result in an unbootable system.
The source code for the kernel, library, etc. should fit on one diskette. Sources for the GNU utilities will vary (and will be big). The sources to GNU emacs will take at least 3 disks. -- Theodore Ts'o, 1992 (distributing the first Linux disks)

Re: Problem with apt-get.
Did you Google your error code yet?
dpkg keeps its post-install files in: /var/lib/dpkg/info/*.postinst. My issue was that some of those files were corrupted. I needed only to remove the corrupted ones (but I tested them before removal by removing execution permissions, so back them up just in case). If you haven't already reinstalled Debian, you may want to check out the problematic programs, which dpkg is showing you at the bottom of your log, and see if any of the postinst files are the source of your issues.

Re: Problem with apt-get.
Thanks you for everything, but I have reinstalled Debian. Actually, I googled a lot before asking here, but nothing worked.
I think the owner has stopped a configuration during a process / upgrade and that's why he got this problem.
Once again, thanks you for your help.
