Stuck in emergency mode after power interruption

#1 Post by BarrySN »

Running Debian 8.8. It boots into emergency mode after restarting following a brief power outage from a thunderstorm. Tried "systemctl reboot" and "systemctl default" but continues to boot into emergency mode. At the time of the power outage wasn't doing much: working on a LibreOffice spreadsheet. There might have been a xterm window open and I was connected to my NAS via a wireless lan network share using Samba.

The /home, /root, /var, /tmp partitions are in a logical volume group. From the log:

job dev-mapper--vg_bsnfedoralinu\x2d1v_var.device/start timed out
Timed out waiting for device dev-mapper-vg_bsnfedoralinu\x2d1v_var.device
dependency failed for /var
depedency failed for local file systems
dependency failed for update UTMP about system runlevel changes
dependency failed for load/save randomseed
dependency failed for various fixups to make systemd work better on Debian
dependency failed for update UTMP about system boot/shutdown
dependency failed for load/save RF kill switch status of rfkill0
dependency failed for filesystem check on dev/mapper/vg_fedoralinux_lv_var

Similar entries for the other logical partitions.

Finally:

failed at step EXEC spawning /bin/plymouth nosuch file or directory
