Debian 9.0.1 / XFCE - su / authentication bug (FIX FOUND)

#1 Post by techay »

I have another thread which has got too big and I'm worried people suffering this same bug will not read all the way to the bottom of it and find how I worked around it.

Basically, after 4 installations and not being able to 'su' without receiving an authentication error, I tried installing without giving ANY password for the root account - i.e. leaving empty. What this did was then enable me to attain super user privileges using 'sudo'.
