Backporting upstream bugfix into Debian

#1 Post by pgb205 »

Debian version in question 7.7

There was a bugfix to the kerberos package in the upstream project several years ago as described here
http://krbdev.mit.edu/rt/Ticket/Display.html?id=7526
However, it doesn't seem as if this bugfix made its way to the debian repositories.
What are the channels to have this merged?

thanks

There is none. Bugfixes are not automatically backported to prior releases, especially not to a release as old as Wheezy.

Your options:

- Backport it yourself
- Learn to do without
- Pick a release or distro that incorporates the fix.

Pick whichever one you like best.

I don't know about the bug fix you mention but I will note that my Wheezy installation is at version level 7.11, looks like you stopped upgrading that system for some reason after the .7 point release. Perhaps try a Debian Package Search to verify that you have the latest available kerberos package.
