I have been using Linux for some years and have several times replaced Debian with Linux Mint or Ubuntu or vice versa. Each time, as the /home partition remained untouched, I found that my e-mail and browser settings were "inherited" without fuss by the new installation.
I have just had to restore /home from a back-up on external drive. All my settings, in Firefox and Thunderbird, for example, are gone. Various "dot dirs" like .cache, .config and .mozilla are present but are apparently made afresh.
My /original/ "dot dirs" ought to be on my external drive, where they were put by rsync. What are my options?
Scheduled Maintenance: We are aware of an issue with Google, AOL, and Yahoo services as email providers which are blocking new registrations. We are trying to fix the issue and we have several internal and external support tickets in process to resolve the issue. Please see: viewtopic.php?t=158230
