Radeon 5770 on Stretch (Drivers)

#1 Post by pawRoot »

Hi

I want to test my Radeon 5770 once again in Debian, and i need to install open source driver (Stretch),
but i find the wiki a bit confusing, why do they tell me to add contrib and non-free to sources.list if
the driver is supposed to be open source ?

How do i install it ?

Code: Select all

lspci -nn | grep VGA
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Juniper XT [Radeon HD 5770] [1002:68b8]
Thanks

EDIT:

All i had to do is to install

Code: Select all

firmware-amd-graphics

Kernel drivers are open-source, but firmware used to run those drivers isn't (acording to Debian).
