My newly installed system has been crashing on me.
I don't really know what information to give you but please ask me what you need. Thank you for your patience.
Debian Stretch XFCE 64bit
Nvidia drivers are installed. (there were problems with nouveau as well)
I made a blog post with the contents: /var/log/syslog

Re: Sudden Crashes
I though I used the instructions here https://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsD ... ssie-304xxbw123 wrote:Where/how did you get/install this ver?
NVIDIA UNIX x86_64 Kernel Module 304.137 Thu Sep 14 13:51:03 PDT 2017
But as I read the page again, I think I may have installed by mistake with the instructions for Debian 8.
I am going to install again using the instructions for debian 9. Will that override the previous drivers?
I did install Skype, Dropbox, Wire Messenger, and MegaSync.
Re: Sudden Crashes
I just installed the correct version of the Nvidia drivers (as per debian.org):
and if needed, my card is the following:
system still freezes regularly, even from just inactivity
I also have the Xsession errors in this link: https://paste.debian.net/1036839/
Code: Select all
rojasrod@debian:~$ nvidia-settings -q NvidiaDriverVersion
Attribute 'NvidiaDriverVersion' (debian:0.0): 340.106
Code: Select all
nvidia-detect
Detected NVIDIA GPUs:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GF119 [GeForce GT 610] [10de:104a] (rev a1)
Checking card: NVIDIA Corporation GF119 [GeForce GT 610] (rev a1)
Your card is supported by all driver versions.
It is recommended to install the
nvidia-driver
package.

Re: Sudden Crashes
Can you reproduce this problem without the added third-party software?rojasrod wrote:I did install Skype, Dropbox, Wire Messenger, and MegaSync.
The maintainers of those repositories do not have the skills required to become a Debian Developer so you should expect the packaging to be of a lower standard.

Re: Sudden Crashes
I can try uninstalling them, but as of now I do not have an answer.Head_on_a_Stick wrote:Can you reproduce this problem without the added third-party software?rojasrod wrote:I did install Skype, Dropbox, Wire Messenger, and MegaSync.
Re: Sudden Crashes
I re-installed with the Debian unofficial release with non-free firmware, and everything seems to be working for the first time in a while.
