Dell poweredge 2850 utility to rebuild Hardware RAID

#1 Post by devind0 »

I have a couple of older dell poweredge 2850 servers in use that use scsi disks in a hardware raid 5 configuration. Disks have been failing, however the only way i have been able to re build a failed disk is to shut down the system and use the built in utility in the raid controller bios. My question is, is there a utility for debian that would allow me to see the logical disk status and initiate a rebuild without shutting down the system? I noticed a utility by dell called openmanage, appears to have a version for linux, however i am uncertain if it will do what i need.
