hello
quite suddenly, it seems i cannot mount my hardrive, media player and even usb sticks without my system freezing up.
the behavior is also quite random, as sometimes i am able to mount an external drive, etc but in most cases it is not working as before: i.e., just plug and play.
i've tested cables, etc. nothing seems to make a difference.
i'm running a version of debin sid: linux kernel 4.18.0-2-rt-686-pa
thanks for any help on this.

external hard drive system freezing
Re: external hard drive system freezing
There is a some advice here about using sid,
https://wiki.debian.org/DebianUnstable
Offhand, not being a sid user, and not having access to your logs, I'd probably try another kernel and see if it still happens. If it does, then I'd try to undo recent updates, or restore from a backup.
