No sound on multiple steam games

Hello,

I have been having an issue with steam on debian buster where a number of games do no have sound.

I have a laptop running the same distro and everything works fine. Is there something obvious that I am missing?

I have i386 enabled with nividia drivers installed. Is there any extra packages related to sound I might be missing. I am short of nuking it and hoping it randomly works on reinstall.
