Make unique debian installer

Postby karnalabbe » 2019-02-11 12:03

Hi Everyone!

I want to make a debian offline installer dvd for my computer. I want include my wifi adapter driver to the installer, my video card driver and other drivers that the original dvd doesn't contain.
My question: can someone help how i can add or delete specific programs/drivers to/from an existing linux installer or how to make my own installer? I have already searched through many places but i havent found any answer for this question.

Thanks

Have you thought about using this instead? https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unof ... -firmware/

Thanks for the reply but this is not the answer for my question. In the mean time i have further research and i found this:

https://wiki.debian.org/DebianInstaller/Modify/CD

Maybe this is what i looked for. Or something like this.

You can use the FAI web service to build a customized installer CD/DVD/USB stick. You just have to add the Debian package names, then a customized ISO images will be build. It contains all packages already on the ISO, so no network connection is needed.
https://fai-project.org/FAIme

By default this installation images will contain these non-free drivers packages:
firmware-bnx2 firmware-bnx2x firmware-realtek
firmware-linux-nonfree

Hi karnalabbe

refracta tools seems to be your ticket https://www.ibiblio.org/refracta/downloads.html
i have tried their installer in vm and can confirm it works
i havent used their iso builder tool through, so cant comment on its usability
for creating iso i used https://www.linux-live.org

the installer manages to install grub and transfer the live system to your nominated partition
however i found that it did not boot automatically
u might have to manually assign the partition as root and specify the vmlinuz and initrid at the grub prompt

then upon booting to your installed system you can of course purge grub and re-install it and then correct your fstab

should be all good then on

but to summarize the refracta installer works
before burning your iso you can install it on your system so the iso that you create will already have it installed

best luck!
