The installer has alpha is the name. So it seems it is not released yet.

A full freeze was done already.
https://wiki.debian.org/DebianBuster
THought it says the release date is not planned.
Key release dates
[20??-???-??] Release Debian 10 "buster" (not planned yet)
Why is there no date for the release?
Do you think I can use Buster already for serious work? Or should I wait?

Re: How long is expected before debian 10's official release
The full freeze started a week ago and it usually lasts about six months.
The precise duration depends on the release-critical bugs that are outstanding:
https://bugs.debian.org/release-critical/
I would advise waiting for the official release if you're using Debian for something important, or maybe even a few months after the release to allow any outstanding serious bugs to be picked up.

Patience, young grasshopper. As with every version of Debian ever, it will be released when it is ready.

OK thanks. I will try it anyways since I will be using it as a desktop for basic things, not for a server.Head_on_a_Stick wrote:The full freeze started a week ago and it usually lasts about six months.

I listed the bugs and none seem critical for what I do. Probably 80% of those packages are not even installed.
https://udd.debian.org/bugs/?release=bu ... ml#results
In the errata of the installer they give a summary of important issues and none affect me.

Yes but the whole point of the freeze (and indeed the entire testing branch) is to expose new bugs so that they can be fixed.MagicPoulp wrote:I listed the bugs and none seem critical for what I do

I will be willing to report a bug if I get a new one that is not known yet.Head_on_a_Stick wrote:Yes but the whole point of the freeze (and indeed the entire testing branch) is to expose new bugs so that they can be fixed.MagicPoulp wrote:I listed the bugs and none seem critical for what I do

Check the link on my signature: "understanding the Debian release cycle". That should answer your questions.MagicPoulp wrote: Why is there no date for the release?
