[SOLVED]Cant change Thunar search hotkey as per official FAQ

Postby debian121212 » 2019-08-25 05:10

As per
Code: Select all
https://docs.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/faq

I cant change the hotkey for
Code: Select all
; (gtk_accel_path "<Actions>/ThunarStandardView/select-by-pattern" "<Primary>s")

into
Code: Select all
; (gtk_accel_path "<Actions>/ThunarStandardView/select-by-pattern" "<Primary>f")

because every time I restart thunar its always at primary s again. I want to change the ctrl s into ctrl f in order to search by pattern.

I did the thunar -q before and tried editing from terminal (have to have thunar closed obviousy) and then rebooted. No avail.

Any info?

Tried editing the accels file in in recovery even and no luck.

Id also like to make thunar search not case sensitive if possible.

You need to uncomment the line(s) you changed by removing the "; " in front.

Thx!!

Suggestion to Thunar team:

They should update the FAQ and make it very clear you need to remove the ;. They mention *afterwards* that ; are comments.

Should be:

" For thunar 1.7.0 and above you first need to quit thunar: thunar -q

After that, *****PROCEED TO UNCOMMENT***** and edit the *****DESIRED***** accelerators located in $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/Thunar/accels.scm

( e.g. in ~/.config/Thunar/accels.scm ) "

In fact, I've seen posts on forums about users claiming that Thunar's search sucks, as if what happens when you click ctrl f on a fresh thunar install is the real thunar search.

Please change the ctrl s to ctrl f and also make it case insensitive (at least add option to do so from GUI) so that users don't feel a need to install catfish upon Thunar just to get a "working search function" inside thunar for example and such other "workarounds".

I personally tried installing catfish on an earlier version of thunar because of this, couldn't get it working right, and then just stuck with standalone catfish for a while.

Eventually proceeded to replace Thunar with Dolphin about it.

Then here I am now realizing its ctrl s instead of ctrl f. Great to know.
