spurious response 0x0:0x0 Error

#1 Post by Pace »

Hi everyone,

So I'm running Debian 10,
Linux debian 4.19.0-6-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.19.67-2+deb10u1 (2019-09-20) x86_64 GNU/Linux
And my logfile comes up constantly with the following error:-

Code: Select all

Oct 8 18:22:25 debian kernel: [ 9817.754525] snd_hda_intel 0000:01:00.1: spurious response 0x0:0x0, last cmd=0x570882
Oct 8 18:22:25 debian kernel: [ 9817.754526] snd_hda_intel 0000:01:00.1: spurious response 0x0:0x0, last cmd=0x570882

Oct 8 18:22:25 debian kernel: [ 9817.754754] snd_hda_intel 0000:01:00.1: spurious response 0x0:0x0, lastncmd=0xa70e02
This seems to be related to the Gnome Bug report https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/issues/36
The problem is that I don't see any resolution for this, or maybe it just not implemented into this version of Debian.

Any thoughts on how I can resolve this would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Pace

So just to provide an update here:-

From the Gnome developers:-
You are using version 3.30.x which is too old and not supported anymore by GNOME developers. GNOME developers are no longer working on that version, so there will not be any bug fixes by GNOME developers for the version that you use.
You could upgrade to a newer version of GNOME so you could receive bug fixes and new functionality which may require to upgrade your Linux distribution.
Please feel free to reopen this task if the problem still occurs with a recent version of GNOME, or feel free to report this bug in the bug tracking system of your Linux distribution if your distribution still supports the version that you are using.
From my own investigation it seems like the issue may be related to my NVIDIA card when my system comes out of power save suspend.
I changed from Gnome to KDE and found that I was getting a different error in KDE every time I came out of suspend.
When i remove the NVIDIA card the problem stopped.
