/sbin/depmod is supplied by the kmod package, please read my supplied link to understand why it is not being found.

Well unfortunately the surveillance cameras I installed at your house don't seem to be working at the moment to you'll have to post the actual commands that you're using here instead. Please also post the full, exact error message(s). Thanks so much.

You know, this is amazing, I tried using these very same words as my search string, and I found all sorts of good, relevant information.
1st hit : https://manpages.debian.org/buster/kmod ... .8.en.html
On my system , it was there by default, at least I don't remember ever installing it, but it is there,
Try:

Code: Select all

$man kmod
and show us the output, or part of it,...also

Code: Select all

$man depmod
You do need to be root to use it, and if you do not know how to login as root correctly, maybe that is a good thing, it could cause damage to your system if not used correctly.
what is depmod and how do i get it
https://www.startpage.com/do/dsearch?qu ... sion=1.3.0
================================
https://www.startpage.com/do/dsearch?qu ... sion=1.3.0
It is part of the "kmod" package, if you have kmod installed, you have it.
https://wiki.debian.org/depmod
You could have just done a search for that information, Why did you not at least try that ?
Show us how you are typing your commands.
EG:

Code: Select all

$ kmod -V

should tell you the version, . The link H_O_A_S gave you should help, if you read it carefully. I will give a hint though, probably you are not becoming root correctly...or you need to show us more clearly how you are writing your commands, are you using 'sudo' ?
or 'su' ( sudo should work, but I don't have it setup, nor use it so I can not check that)
su - works though, but you need to read the manuals , BEFORE doing anything as root.
If you don't like manuals, then don't use the program, or work as root on your system.

Just a scientific wild guess, but the OP probably has to set up a kernel module build environment first, so vmware can build its modules. But they have to help us by being more responsive. "It didn't work" isn't going to cut it.

Depmod is a red herring.
