Has anyone upgraded this image from buster to sid after first startup? I tried the other and it wouldn't load at all. Trying to
figure out if I missed something or let something be replaced that shouldn't.

I have no experience with Debian on raspberry but have you checked logs, dmesg, journal, etc and looked for error messages?
