How can you upgrade to php 7.3? [Resolved]

Postby schnappi » 2021-02-15 18:28

Debian 10 using PHP 7.0.33-0+deb9u3 (cli) with Nginx. Some applications have been giving notifications that need upgrade to a higher version of php to get upgrades.

1) Is php7.3, php7.3-fpm, or another package the right package to install in order to upgrade to php7.3?

2) How can Nginx be set to use php7.3 instead of php7.0?

1) Installing package php7.3 will install version 7.3.19-1~deb10u1 in Debian Stable.
2) If you install php7.3, it will normally uninstall the previous version and replace all references to it. If you're not sure, you can do apt reinstall nginx without problem after you've upgraded your php.

Had to install php7.3, php7.3-fpm, and php-mysql to get everything working in Nginx again after upgrading to php 7.3. Don't forget to update Nginx files to point to php 7.3 as well.
