SU command to root is slow? Please help?

Hi all, I have installed Debian on my computer and 2 other computers and I have never experienced this issue in any of the other three. The issue is as the title suggests.
When I input the 'su' command with a normal user, after I type in root's password, the console hangs for 5-10 seconds until it finally resolves. Root login is 'instant', as well as 'su' from root to normal users. 'su' to root is also 'instant' in my 3 other Debian systems.
