No, that won't work. Log out of your user completely then log into your daughter's user from the display manager (or from the TTY).
Sorry for the delay. I didn't answer sooner because I was copying a folder with huge amount of data and I couldn't logout. I'll do it tomorrow!

I even forgot about this problem when I got new things to tackle. But I'm back to this and now it's my account that is lacking the sound device.

My daughter today came to the laptop before me, so seems that her account took control over the sound device an now, it's my account that is with no sound.

So, I'm going to run those commands suggested above and paste here the output. I will edit this post.
