NVMe SSD requires nvme_load=YES boot option?

#1 Post by SkewMatrix »

I installed a weekly build of bullseye on a Dell Inspiron 3880 desktop with a 512GB PCIe M2 SSD card. In order for the Debian installer to see the SSD, I had to switch from SATA to AHCI in the system bios screen.

After installation, Linux refused to boot. I had to add the "nvme_load=YES boot option. This surprised me, as I thought NVMe support was built into the Linux kernel starting around v3.

Does this sound normal? Or is it an issue with bullseye that I should report?

Thanks.
