Office program for Debian testing?

#1 Post by debeb »

I've installed testing after I found out that stable doesn't really suit my taste for a desktop system. Is there any office program available in testing - possibly not for KDE? Abiword as well as OpenOffice seem to be broken. And no, I don't need TeX ;)

How about texmacs (apt-get install texmacs)? I enjoy using it a lot than latex.

How is OpenOffice broken? OpenOffice2 just entered testing in the last week or so. I installed it the day it was added, and though I haven't used all the applications yet, the ones I've used worked perfectly well.

Huh? That's what I get:
alpha:/etc/apt# apt-get install openoffice.org-common
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
openoffice.org-common: Depends: openoffice.org-core (> 2.0.0) but it is not installable
E: Broken packages

Not so easy after the recent updates from last week ...

# apt-get install openoffice.org
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
