Opera question

Postby Bulkley » 2006-03-06 21:57

If I leave the Opera web browser open, it is often active when I'm not using it. I've checked and the activity is Google related. Firefox does not do this, even when open to the same sites. So, what is Opera doing?

In case there's no other answer, further ahead in this post, have a look at opera forum for linux users.

Don't forget to provide more details like, for example, the version of Debian you have (Sarge, Etch, Sid, stable, testing or unstable) as well as the version of opera that you have.

I hope that helps. If does, share the solution here. ;)

Cheers,

Yes, I checked there first. I run Libranet upgraded to Sarge, but I don't think that's relevant. This looks very much like Opera is running, or trying to run Google ads, but I don't see them. They show up when I monitor with Ethereal.

I've noticed this for a long time - through several editions of Opera - , but only recently figured out that Google is involved.
