lilo and booting debian

#1 Post by kobedf »

hello
i am using debian sid and the 2.4.20 kernel
what i want to do is put lilo (and only lilo ) on a floppy disk , and with it to choose
between linux and windows.I don;t want to put lilo on the HDD or MBR.
Currently am i booting linux with the boot disk....but there are 2 problems here:
1.slow speed ( because there is a kernel on the FDD)
2.if i want to upgrade to 2.6 ( and i want) the kernel will not fit into a single floppy

how do i do that?

You can install LILO to a floppy by changing the boot=... line to
boot=/dev/fd0
in the /etc/lilo.conf file and running LILO.
