Do you have the xorg package installed (apt-get install xorg)? I believe that is the package that has startx.

Error: Command could not be executed!
Please install the Xserver

Try:
# apt-get install x-window-system-core icewm menu

# dpkg -P gdm
# reboot
$ startx <Enter>
