installing jvm on debian

installing jvm on debian

hi
i install jvm on debian 3.1
apt-get -u install java-package
fakeroot make-jpkg jdk-1_5_0_07-linux-i586.bin

but we got an error
but we all permission to user (r,w,e)

copy sun-j2sdk1.5_1.5.0+update07_i386.deb into directory /usr/local/

For some reason it seems that it is trying to create some files in /etc and /usr. You may need to run make-jpkg as actual root, not just fakeroot.
