My PC starts in shell mode, not with Gnome

#1 Post by guarriman »

Hi.

I tried to restart my PC and it doesn't start with Gnome, but with the shell. My
/etc/inittab is in 5 level.

System shows this message when starting:
----
/etc/rc5.d/S99acpi-support: line 7:
/usr/share/acpi-support/power-funcs: No such file or directory
----

If I 'startx', I get this message whithin Gnome:
-----
Can't access ACPI events un /var/run/acpid.socket
-----

Does anybody know what's happening?

Thank you very much.

Try apt-get install gdm, which will install and set up the GNOME display/login manager.
