What version am I running?

#1 Post by GregFuller »

I I just got a serverbeach server, and choose debian because it was recommended. I'm new to debian.

Serverbeach says the standard install is woody, but I wonder. I see the word "sarge" in some of the packages when I do a dpkg -l.

I know this must sound stupidly simple, but how do I tell for sure if I'm running sarge or woody?

Thanks, Greg

See the /etc/debian_version file. It should contain the version number. The meaning of it is:
3.1 - Sarge
3.0 - Woody
2.2 - Potato
