Use the button. SpamHunters can see and close the reports. The thread is good for only 1-2 person, but when it is more people, the reporting system is better.
And is it not going to be annoying if, like 10 people, press the button at the same time?

I never repeated posts, I always checked whether the reported post was already listed by somebody else.

So should the "Spam Reporting" thread be locked and unstickied?

That forum section could use a little cleanup too...too many spam related threads

The admins can delete the thread altogether. Why on earth do they keep dead threads in the administrative parts of the forum?

So, gnudude and Jackiebrown you can remove my posts... :P

SpamHunters only can split and move topics to a hidden folder. They can not delete anything and they are not moderators. Please, read again my first message in this thread...

That certainly depends on the type of post. I am sure you wouldn't delete a valid and helpful post, even if it is my own post. And, if you delete or moderate my posts that are not within the parameters of the rules of this forum, I will be more than thankful. After all, everyone can, some day or another, have a bad day.

Most of your posts are helpful..., I don't think you will ever remove a helpful post. The fact that you offered to remove spam for free, is already an undeniable sign that you care for GNU/Linux. Regarding the latter, we are totally in agreement and I am very happy about that. :D

My disappointment is because I was longing to help, but the admins thought I am too strict and posters might have complained.

I was just joking anyway. I thought the silliness of the response would be obvious. I do not wish to be responsible for removing anyones posts, even yours. I have never complained about your posts...although I do try to ignore some of your threads but often get caught up in a tangent in some of them. You just have to overlook me sometimes. I have no problem with you or anyone on the board. I appreciate everyones involvement....regardless if I particularly enjoy it or not.

be well....

Try placing something like this in your posts:(Extreme Edit: Warning Joke Follows. My sense of humor is far from guaranteed. If it doesn't seem funny, trust me, it is meant that way! Err, funny, not meant the other way, meant to be funny. I forget to use smilies as much as I should. Actually, maybe it isn't really that funny anyway. Just skip ahead. OK?)

Code: Select all

Danger: removing this file may cause permanent damage to your system. You have been warned.

Rejected like a rotten orange...

Rejected like a rotten orange... :(

When I first started to use this forum, I read the rules, and if my memory serves me right, I was instructed not to use private messages very often. So, I resorted to write my complaints in my posts. Is that rude for most of you?

I have been humiliated to the extent of not being considered suitable to a sweeping and dusting task.... and that really hurts. ana already has loads of responsability and she is giving quite a lot... I wanted to do the same thing on a much humbler scale, and I was rejected like someone not worthy of taking the least of all responsabilities! I am starting to ask:

What is wrong with me.....? Sorry, but I cannot understand...

Speaking for my own situation, in no way do I feel "rejected"; quite the opposite. I specifically offered to assist in squelching spam but on the condition that I'd not have to perform any moderating of discussions.

Edit: At the time I posted this, I was under the mistaken impression that Ed was upset over not being made a full-fledged moderator, rather than a mere "spamhunter".

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it. -- Brian Kernighan

Just don't worry about it, probably several other people offered their help and didn't make the list, no big deal.

Keep contributing and sharing and learning...and taking an occasional knock.

Edit:

Post moved to General Discussion. Please, don't post here. The subject of the post was relating to a deleted thread.

As this is not the right section, I am posting the original in General Discussion.
