It is my suggestion that if somebody compiles or makes an app, that app should be put in a download ftp of this same site to make it helpful for others.

It can be helpful for some stable users, who might need an updated app.

It could be like a section below "how to", to sa

Not a good idea.

Personally there are maybe a handful of people on the forum that I would trust enough to install a package they posted.

Not a good idea to trust people you do not know .

Installing a random package from a forum or anywhere else is a good way to have your system rooted.

I suppose that the forum moderators can check atleast 50 to 60 packages uploaded?

There is hardly requirement of extra packages now in current stable, for average user they may be around 2 to 12, i suppose.

Go through thousands and thousands of lines of code looking for something that's not quite kosher? Extract the source of VLC 2.0.1 and read it, to name one package that could be backported to Squeeze. The solution is for the package to be added to squeeze-backports, or else (if you have adequate hardware) backport the package yourself.

We've done a lot of packages not in squeeze-backports for the squeeze-based MEPIS 11 community repo...you are welcome to grab the /debian folders from there and use them in the official Debian upstream tarballs to build packages. It's a lot easier reading or doing diffs of a /debian folder than it is looking for evil changes in source.
