It is not a an important issue, but still somewhat interesting. Has anyone else noticed that the forum's clock is steadily falling further behind the actual time? A few months ago it was five minutes behind. A month ago it was ten minutes behind. Now, it is almost a quarter hour behind. If it continues, in a few more months it will be an hour behind. That would be almost inconvenient.

Or is it just me?

If the time was always off by the same amount, that would simply be an error in setting the clock, but why is the time differential gradually increasing? That is a little harder to explain.

Or perhaps a Debian forum just feels slower.

That's exactly how the clock behaves in my computer if it's not set by ntpdate-debian (or by my little hands ).

I don't actually know how Linux keeps time, in a hardware sense. (And I don't actually care, since I sync with ntp.) But Windows (used to?) insist(s) on using the CPU clock instead of the perfectly serviceable chronometer that's been part of every PC since the mid-80s. And every CPU is just different enough to allow for/create a fair "drift" over time.

I sometimes wonder if they aren't the only ones that actually get it right! The more I look at poor old simple WV the more I like it. Maybe I am just poor old and simple and I like other things that are the same.

Although those gas prices are a damn bit higher than VA prices.

WV doesn't have a gasoline pipeline system in the State so we have to pay extra for shipping.

You sure the savings would be passed on to the consumers? Modern day prices appear to be set at what the consumer will pay and has nothing to do with actual cost. Actual cost determines the size of the executive bonuses since they skim off the top before the stock holders get a dividend. And because they get to vote on the size of their bonus so why not 1000% of their base pay???

As long as there is competition prices will stay low. But you are right about selling for what the consumer will pay.
