Hey Lazy Red Bastards... Formally introduce us to your new Green and Purple minions.
I wish for a conjugal visit and world peace. (Don't want to seem selfish.)

That would require an admin to visit the board and make a post. :shock:

Edit
I should have included a congratulation to the new green and purple vanguard.
Congratulations. :D

He will probably tell spammers that do a poor job to search the internet and learn how to spam properly. :lol:

Absent Minded
deltaflyer
craigevil

Pretty sure this was done because we couldn't ban any of the spammers. Also not entirely sure if it will be a permanent thing for any of us. But what the hay congrats to everyone.

Several new spam hunters:
llivv
arochester
dasein
dilberts_left_nut

Now go forth and nuke the spammers.

Though friends have often told me that I look good in purple.

(Though I confess that it never occurred to me that spamhunters actually have to see nuked spam in the topic list. UI fail.)
(Edit: saulgoode built a Greasemonkey script that rectifies this UI fail. I've nominated him for sainthood.)

In other news...

Either that, or that they need to provide much more information if they actually want folks to click their links. ;)

Edit: I've now officially nuked my first spam. I confess that I find it markedly more satisfying than merely reporting it. Bad Moon Rising.

Here is a Greasemonkey script which will hide the "nuked spam" while you are viewing new posts. There are a couple of other GM scripts in the Team Chat forum that you might find helpful (they eliminate some typing and cut mouse clicks in half when removing spam).

Code: Select all

/ ==UserScript==
// @name           Debian Hide Spam
// @namespace      http://flashingtwelve.brickfilms.com
// @description Hide threads in the Spam Forum when viewing new posts
// @include        http://forums.debian.net/search.php?search_id=newposts*
// ==/UserScript==

var fields;

fields = document.getElementsByClassName('topictitle')

for (var i = 0; i < fields.length; i++) {
  if ( fields[i].href.substring (0, 43) == "http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=27") {
    var p = fields[i].parentNode;
    var gp = p.parentNode;
    var ggp = gp.parentNode;
    ggp.removeChild(gp);
    i = Math.min (0, i - 1); // backup index so that elements aren't skipped
    }
  }
Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it. -- Brian Kernighan

Yes, I saw that, have already installed it, and nominated you for sainthood.

A True Blessing.

How do you save or install it to Greasemonkey?

Save it as a *.user.js then drag & drop on the browser window or 'File - open'
Note: the 'select all' code box tag added 4 blanks to the start of each line which prevented it being recognised when I did it first.
