Yes. But getting rid of systemd a PID1 is the easy part. Extricating it's tentacles from every corner of your OS - lockin - is the real problem.
But why is that even necessary?

If it's not running then why does that matter?

Because apps like Gnome 3 are entangled with systemd dependencies. No systemd, no Gnome 3 yada, yada. Software choices will be limited without systemd because they are tied to systemd. In other words, a monolithic structure like MS.

I don't understand.

With my method, systemd is no longer playing any part in the operation of the system but because all the libraries are present software such as GNOME can be installed without any problems.

Any method that involves removing all systemd-related packages would prevent GNOME and other similar programs from being installed without some fairly major workarounds.

It seems to me that your proposed method is the one that is severely restricting software choice...

And BTW, your kernel is monolithic too -- does that not bother you?

But you still have systemd libraries! That is unacceptable to many of us who want NOTHING systemd on our boxes. Can you say 'trojan'? Devuan and others are getting rid of EVERYTHING systemd. They are even getting it out of Gnome.

Look, Head_on_a_Stick,

I will take a look at those links in your sig.
And surely I'll be reading the:
https://www.devuan.org/
(and se if they do get rid of all the stuff that MirDebian WTF rids me of).
Because, pls take note that golinux is completely in the right in his remarks and explanations to you, and there is no more to add.

Thanks for your appreciation.

Anyone can dismiss these: kernel hooks for rootkits
linux capabilities for intrusion?

Devuan is also my hope to continue using GNU/Linux in a meaningful non-ignorant way. As I highly configure my installations and bootloaders, I saw systemd like a death sentence to my GNU/Linux use.

Long Life, CHOICE!
Debian == { > 30, 000 packages }; Debian != systemd
The worst infection of all, is a false sense of security!
It is hard to get away from CLI tools.

You might also want to look at their slowly evolving wiki page and other resources like their mailing list and irc channels - #debianfork, #devuan and #devuan-dev. Sometimes lots of technical discussion and individual progress reports at those places.
