For beginners, How to trouble shoot Debian

Postby GarryRicketson » 2017-06-28 15:52

We get a lot of "new users" here, and a big problem for them
seems to be they have no idea as to how to go about trouble
shooting their Debian system, after installing.
So any way, this is or was , a good place to start

The best way you can learn about your Debian system is to fix your own problems whenever possible. A lot of people have trouble figuring out where to get started looking for answers. Here are some of the first things you should look for.

Many do not even know where to look for the logs.
I was a good place to start, but I am not so sure now,
because I am noticing it is rather out of date:

So I am not sure how use full it is any more.
My technical skills and knowledge about the newer debian 8 and debian 9
is extremely limited, if any one has some suggestions on what needs to be
added, to make it more up to date, it would be appreciated, other wise, I will
just have to practice what I preach, and do some searches, etc, before updating it. And it will take considerably more time.
I am also going to work on a Spanish translation, I just now noticed there is none.
Thanks
