Mail server howto

#1 Post by sysadmin »

I found this howto on setting up a mail server on Debian:

http://www.perrito.se/random-stuff/mail ... -on-debian

I'm following the instructions and so far I've been successful, although it has taken me some time to get everything right. (I'm kind of new to Linux.)

Any thoughts on the setup described there? (Postfix, Dovecot etc.) It all sounds good, but maybe there are better ways to do it?

Does anyone know how to set up a minimal amount of the linux mail system so that you can just use smtp and pop3 with existing mail accounts?

All I really want to do is to be able to us a mail reader and writer via emacs
