Given gnome-core depends on gnome-screensaver, how is that inconsistency fixed?

Isn't there any more desktop-env friendly option?
This is more an issue with a recent install of Jessie, there are no options for gnome-screensaver at all.
I currently have both of them installed and seems to be working al right.
