apt-get install zfs-dkms

Not easily. It is possible to do it without an additional disk by degrading the mirrors during the copy, but taking a fresh backup should be step one if you value the install anyway.

Setting up ZFS boot is a bit of extra work and requires a patched GRUB (IIRC), I tend to leave /boot (and often /) on ext4 for compatibility / recovery purposes. Do you really need / and or /boot on ZFS?
Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action. Four times is Official GNOME Policy.

ZFS is not available exactly in Debian, since Debian is only what's included in the "main" section archive. What people really meant here is that ZFS code is now in included in "contrib" and it's available for users using DKMS.
Are you sure your /etc/apt/sources.list is ok, ?
Does it have the lines for "contrib" ? That package does exist, and
is available,..
