Description-en: Linux 3.2 for older PCs
The Linux kernel 3.2 and modules for use on PCs with a single processor not supporting PAE

Then, old/486 now means non-PAE !

I dug out my 10 year old Gateway laptop which does contain a Centrino Pentium M Dothan processor.
I then proceeded to install 686 and 686-PAE kernels in addition to the already present 486.
All three work for me.
All my kernels are Towo's so maybe it's his magic.
