Hi there,
I've followed the instructions on this page but I'm still getting stuck: https://wiki.debian.org/InstallingDebia ... 20XPS%2013
What I've done so far:
1. Downloaded the debian ISO with the nonfree drivers that are required for my Dell XPS 13
- filename: debian-live-7.5.0-amd64-xfce-desktop+nonfree.iso
2. Created a bootable USB from this ISO using Unetbootin
3. Booted my laptop from this USB
The problem:
I get to the "Detect network hardware" step of the installation and a screen pops up containing the message "No ethernet card was detected", along with the list of possible drivers needed by my ethernet card.
I scroll down to "iwlwifi" and press enter but it just refreshed the screen and nothing happens. I thought that this screen would not show up seeing as I have the debian ISO with the nonfree drivers my laptop needs, but I still hit this step anyway. I also though selecting "iwlwifi" would do something, but nothing happens.
Note: I also got stuck at this step when I tried to install Debian using the standard ISO without the nonfree drivers to get the wifi working.
How do I get past this step successfully? Thanks in advance.

Re: Dell XPS 13 - No ethernet card was detected
Can you run a live session? i.e. not the installer but an actual desktop session?
Did you get just wlan0 or eth0 and wlan0 at the network detection stage?
Some googling (I don't have hardware as nice as yours!)

Re: Dell XPS 13 - No ethernet card was detected
Hey inersha,
I understand your problem. The Debian installer cannot detect your Ethernet card because the 7.5.0 version has an old kernel and it may not have support for newer Ethernet cards. So you do the following.
Go to "http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/weekl ... 64/iso-cd/" and download the 'debian-testing-amd64-CD-1.iso' file.
Try to install from this ISO and your Ethernet card should be detected fine. Hope this helps.
