[SOLVED]Alsamixer not starting in terminal.

#1 Post by robgeek »

Hi!

I'm using Debian Wheezy last version with OpenBox(without Gnome) and i would like to start alsamixer to change the volume but, look what happens in my terminal, i'm using terminantor:
rob@robgeek:~$ alsamixer
Error opening terminal: terminator.
How can i fix that?

Not that sure if reinstalling might solve problems. Won't hurt for sure.
In each case i would mv the config file of terminator, inside the users home, to make sure none of made settings are borked. If that is not the case, mv the config back.

I'd also try a different terminal-emulator. Same problem?

I'd probably simply run alsamixer from a tty ... (but then: i only set the volume once, after installation .... ).

You could also look at the gui of alsamixer (alsamixer-gtk or such).

Just some ideas, i really am not good with errors terminal-emulators produce (it might well be not related to terminator and not to alsamixer, but some shell setting. I simply don't know such, for sure not the according error messages).
Give me convenience or give me death.

Thank you all, guys!

I fixed this problem removing the following line from ~/.bashrc:

Code: Select all

export TERM=terminator
Now, i can start alsamixer from terminator.
Also, using x-terminal-emulator i could open too, like fruitofloom said.
