Debian on Intel NUC Kit NUC5PPYH ?

Debian on Intel NUC Kit NUC5PPYH (Intel Pentium 3700, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD) ?
This system is my linux desktop computer. Ubuntu 15.04 is working on this PC.

I would like to run Debian on this computer, but I was not successful yet.

Standard Debian 8.3 (command line without desktop) is working on this NUC. Openbox is also working (without hardware acceleration, only low resolutions). When I install Gnome i get the "Oh no! Something has gone wrong" screen. LXDE will not start at all (no display avail).

I already tried without success:

1.) Kernel 4.3 from jessie-backports (hangs after first kernel messages)
2.) server-xorg-video-intel from testing
3.) Upgrading from stable jessie to testing stretch (kernel hangs)

Is anybody using this NUC or another Intel N3700 computer successful with Debian yet? Or do you have any hints for my further Debian installation attempts?

It is working now! Heureka! :D

I took these steps:

1. Changed bios option from efi to legacy booting (to save myself from uefi hazzles)
2. Bios boot configuration set to "Linux" (probably necessary for newer kernels)
3. Updated bios to version 50
4. Installed Debian netinst image and nonfree firmware
5. Upgraded from jessie to stretch (stable to testing)

Your millage may vary! (Perhaps I missed to mention some important steps.)

Test success with:
glxinfo | grep OpenGL

OpenGL vendor string: Intel Open Source Technology Center
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) HD Graphics (Cherryview)
OpenGL core profile version string: 3.3 (Core Profile) Mesa 11.1.2
OpenGL core profile shading language version string: 3.30
OpenGL core profile context flags: (none)
OpenGL core profile profile mask: core profile
OpenGL core profile extensions:
OpenGL version string: 3.0 Mesa 11.1.2
OpenGL shading language version string: 1.30
OpenGL context flags: (none)
OpenGL extensions:
OpenGL ES profile version string: OpenGL ES 3.0 Mesa 11.1.2
OpenGL ES profile shading language version string: OpenGL ES GLSL ES 3.00

I use a 2560 x 1440@60 desktop resolution with Gnome and it is quite smooth on wayland. (I prefer 1440@60 over 4k@30 resolution.)

The NUC5PPYH is now my dedicated Debian GNU Linux Desktop 8)

No more error prone uefi dual booting on my legacy OS (win 10) box.

Experiencing the same thing here with the same equipment. Currently installing Stretch and knocking on wood. I would like to point out that I did in fact get Jessie to work, but didn't work for my needs because Xen proceeded to not load the OS and stop at initramfs.
Anyhow - If you install Jessie UEFI and select LXDE, and unselect Debians DE it will work.

EDIT: Stretch does in fact load via the above instruction. WOOT!

Update: I installed debian 9.9 on the NUC5PPYH and now the Desktop was working without configuration.
