startup problem I think with fstab

#1 Post by dcihon »

Startup is hanging with the following message:
A start job is running for dev-disk-by\x2uuid-734xxxx-xxx-xxxxx-xxxx (I didn't include all the numbers here)
Here is my fstab file and my Grub file contents if this helps.

Code: Select all

# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# Use 'blkid' to print the universally unique identifier for a
# device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name devices
# that works even if disks are added and removed. See fstab(5).
#
# <file system> <mount point>   <type>  <options>       <dump>  <pass>
# / was on /dev/sda6 during installation
UUID=68878426-3ceb-41de-a700-d615b9c0c58c /              ext4          errors=remount-ro    0     1
UUID=7346fd74-6d45-4575-91f4-845b40229a0a /home          ext4          errors=remount-ro    0     1

/dev/sr0        /media/cdrom0   udf,iso9660 user,noauto     0       0

Code: Select all

That didn't work.
Same problem.
Also I didn't mention that at the end of it trying to boot I have to hit control-d and then it lets me login.
If that helps.

please check if the UUIDs in fstab are correct.
i think 'sudo blkid' will give you that info.

To follow up on what debiman just said, I'd replace the UUID with actual device nodes instead to see what happens.
